Merit Badge Jr. College within our troop has begun. Meet 4 times (Nov. 8, 22, Dec. 6, 20) with MB counselors. Boys will sign up for and (hopefully) complete requirements for 2 badges. Offered this session are 1st Aid, Family Life, Personal Fitness, Communications, Stamp Collecting, Astronomy, Geneology.
The hike and overnight camping trip to Carter Notch will take place on December 18. The cost is $16 plus food. There are still a few openingsavailable, so please see Scoutmaster Bucsko if you would like to go. More planning for this trip will take place at the December 13 meeting.
Patrols at each meeting will now be organized according to rank. There will be an opening ceremony and then patrols will break up into their small groups. An asst. scoutmaster will meet with each patrol to give announcements and get the group started on the evening activities.
This is experimental but seems like it will work. Patrol leaders will be chosen, with preference given to the highest ranked scout in need of a position of leadership.
Part of the proceeds from the sale of popcorn goes directly back into the pockets of the scouts. Scouts in our troop will receive about $330total which will help to defray their expenses at summer camp. If you sold popcorn, check with Mr. Foster to find out exactly how much will be taken off the top of your bill for summer camp--the more you sold, the less your fee for camp! It's a great deal!
The winter camping event, the Polar Bear outing, will take place on Saturday, January 29, from 2 p.m. until Sunday, January 30, at 9:00a.m. More details coming in the next month so stay tuned!
The next Court of Honor ceremonyand potluck dinner will be held on Monday, February 7. We anticipate much advancement and merit badge recognition on that evening. Mark your calendars now!
On February 19th & 20th,Troop 58 will again be Ice Fishing, possibly at Camp Hinds. For those of you who are working on your Fishing merit badge, here's your chance to catch that fish!
